For Businesses

Growth changed your business. Let’s look at how the work needs to change.

Portage helps owners and leaders work out whether to hire, clarify responsibilities, change a process, or reorganize the work.

Where the pressure meets the decision.

01

Owner dependence

The decision at stakeWhich decisions should still sit with the owner?

02

03

Preparing for growth

Evidence to examineExpected demand, current capacity, role boundaries, and leadership routines.

Possible outputsA near-term change plan with owners, review measures, and decisions to revisit.

04

Responsibilities overlap or fall through the cracks.

The decision at stakeWho should own the work from start to finish?

Evidence to examineRole boundaries, handoffs, duplicated effort, and work that has no clear owner.

Possible outputsClear responsibilities, decision authority, or a handoff plan.

Illustrative scenario—not client work

The owner still approves routine pricing.

A service business adds staff, but routine pricing decisions keep returning to the owner. Adding a manager is one possible response.

Approval thresholds, incomplete intake, available capacity, or capability could produce similar pressure. Portage would examine those explanations before recommending a change.
